It is clear that we are losing ground in an economy where a livable planet and the well-being of our families and communities have taken a back seat to corporate profits. Now is the time to rise up and make our voices heard.
In Detroit, and around the world, the people least responsible for climate change are experiencing the greatest impacts. Economic and racial injustice makes it harder for people to adapt to heat waves and recover from floods and other extreme weather events. Pope Francis just issued a moral call to action on climate justice and will soon visit the U.S. and speak to Congress. World leaders are coming together in Paris with hopes of achieving an international climate agreement this fall. And one year ago, 400,000 people marched in New York City calling for action on climate change. This is a pivotal time to stand up for climate justice.
On October 3, we will march in Detroit for a better world: one run on clean energy, with good jobs, fair access to housing and clean water, and free of racial injustice. It is all connected, and united we are stronger.
Let’s make our voices heard and support strong action for a just and livable planet. Join us in Detroit!
